Thriving in the Social Media World as an Artist

"Platforms may silence you, algorithms may ignore you, but creativity? That’s unstoppable. Keep making, keep laughing, keep going."
We made it—this is the 50th blog, newsletter, or whatever you want to call it! Here’s to 50 more! But what better way to celebrate this milestone than with a good ol’ social media controversy?
That’s right. This week, I woke up to a message from my team: Our Scribbtoons Facebook page had been flagged as a “fake page spreading political misinformation.”
Wait, what? Fake news? Politics? That’s not even remotely close to what we do.
Scribbtoons is all about comedy, animation, and pure entertainment—no political agenda, no personal attacks, no hidden messages. Just laughter. And yet, here we are, labeled as something we’re not.
When Art Meets Social Media’s Wrath
Getting flagged wasn’t just annoying—it was infuriating.
For years, we’ve put in the work to build an audience, create original content, and bring laughter to people. Then, in an instant, some anonymous report or automated system decides we’re “fake” and taints our credibility.
And the worst part? No explanation. No clear way to appeal. Just a label slapped onto our page like a scarlet letter.
So, I started thinking: How does an artist, studio, or creator protect their work in an era where algorithms and mass reporting can erase years of effort?
Because this won’t be the last time. And if you’re an artist, creator, or business owner, it can happen to you, too.
How to Keep Creating Despite the Chaos
So, what’s next? Do we give up? Apologize for something we didn’t do? Crawl into a corner and sulk?
No. We do what we do best—we turn this into content.
Own the Narrative – Instead of letting this setback define us, we’re making a comedy skit about it. Turn negatives into creative fuel. Troll the situation, make light of it, and keep moving forward.
Diversify Platforms – We’re making sure Scribbtoons isn’t reliant on just one social media channel. If one gets taken down, we’ll still be standing elsewhere. (Creators, take note—don’t put all your eggs in one algorithmic basket.)
Build a Community Beyond Social Media – At the end of the day, followers on a platform don’t equal true community. Emails, Discord servers, Patreon supporters—those are real connections. Make sure your audience can find you outside of social media.
Keep Creating, No Matter What – Algorithms change, haters report, and platforms get weird, but the art? The passion? The grind? That’s ours. No system can take away the power of consistency and creation.
Final Thoughts
This incident could have been a disaster—but instead, it’s a reminder. As artists and creators, we don’t just adapt. We evolve.
So, to my fellow creatives: Don’t let the platforms define you. Don’t let a strike stop you. Keep making. Keep laughing. Keep going.
And to the people who reported us? Thanks for the content idea.
Let’s see what happens in the next 50 blogs.
